"Arriving at the Hotel Ranga felt exciting - driving through the gates, the vast expanse of beautiful scenery and sense of remoteness. The hotel feels cosy, rustic and authentic - if a little dated. The rooms backed onto two hot tubs which we made good use of - running from the room through the snow to the hot tub where we soaked in the scenery from the warmth of the tub. The restaurant was excellent, staff were very attentive and flexible - the kids could eat from the bar menu in the main restaurant, they let us sit at the tables before service to enjoy a glass of wine as the sun sets. The observatory was fun - navigating your way through the snow in the dark, following the red lights and being given a private tour of the skies. We saw the Northern Lights twice during our stay - the Aurora wake up service was great."

"The hotel felt traditional, but a little dated in parts - the bathrooms for example - all clean and working well however. Obviously the photos on the website focus on the more expensive rooms which leaves you feeling a bit let down on arrival as we were in two standard rooms - the duvets and cushions were all very light weight which we all struggled with. You overlook all of this for the surroundings and the restaurant, however, My main criticism is that, despite the beautiful surroundings, there was nowhere to relax and enjoy it! Hot tub and restaurant aside, the hotel bar was uncomfortable and gloomy, and we just wanted to find somewhere comfortable and cosy to relax and unwind and enjoy the view - but that was not available which seems like Ranga is missing a trick."

"There is just one word which encapsulates Hotel Ranga. That is; exceptional. Throughout our stay we were able to enjoy a range of first class food at every meal, be that breakfast, bar meals or a la carte menu. Our dietary requirements were easily catered for and personalised accordingly by meeting the head chef and visiting the kitchen. The staff made us very so very welcome and absolutely nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and spotless. The atmosphere in the hotel is relaxed, calm and decadent. The location of the hotel is perfect for those wishing to enjoy peaceful dark skies and travel around beautiful, dramatic Iceland. We cannot recommend highly enough for those looking for an exceptional hotel."

"Everything! Beautiful setup, country lodge. Exceptional staff and customer care. Food and service were excellent. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We had snow overnight and staff cleared the snow off all the cars ready for people to go out for the day. Can’t wait to go back in the future."
