"Just generally one of those special places that will stick in my memory forever. A collection of pretty little cabins by the beach surrounded by palm trees with hammocks slung between them for whiling away the days. With only the sounds of birds and waves. Where everyone just hangs out and chats, the staff, the other guests, the extremely interesting and gregarious owner Gregory (no pun intended). I could spend a week here just forgetting about the outside world. The various arrangements (airport transfer, transfer back to town, activities) all went smoothly as well. Which is my no means guaranteed in this part of the world."

Not much but if I went again I'd maybe pay a little more for the room with ensuite shower rather than sharing a communal shower with non locking door. Obviously this is budget accommodation in West Africa so it's of the rustic eco lodge variety rather than the western style hotel room variety in case anyone is expecting that.

"Our suite came with a hot tub on the balcony. It was beautiful view and the rooms were super comfortable. The suite also came with a glass of wine and complimentary breakfast buffet the next day. It was very pleasant and nice. We enjoyed our stay."

The room view is absolutely spectacular, making it hard to even leave the balcony, and the room itself is kept spotlessly clean and neat. "Exceptional staff that turn this hotel into an unforgettable getaway. The whole place truly transports you somewhere else. The staff, coming from all over the Caribbean, were incredibly warm and friendly, making our stay feel genuinely special. The owner was fantastic—always present, talking with us, sharing stories, and really bringing them to life. It has been a delightful trip and a wonderful stay. We travelled with kids and it was the perfect set up. There are no real windows (only blinds and mosquito nets), so when the kids got loud, the neighbors could hear us. However room ventilation is really good, as there is a nice breeze at night. The location is also very convenient, well connected to both the north and the south. The food was surprisingly very good for a 4 night stay, breakfast was delicious. The pool and surroundings are wonderful. Would stay here every time I go back to Dominica."

The beach sand was a bit uncomfortable with lots of rocks and twigs.

"Great snorkelling around the over water bungalows, lots of turtles feeding on the seagrass. Beautiful location, so relaxing. Beach access bungalows are very nice, newly renovated, comfy bed. Pool was awesome. Appreciated the sea bird conservation in the island. I actually loved the sounds of the Puffin de Pacifique birds at night - I thought it was a child crying at first lol… bungalows have earplugs, luckily! Complimentary buffet breakfast was good. Got a generous late check out, service was really good from the boat to the front desk to the restaurant and bar. Everyone speaks a very high level of English, not sure where the negative comments about staff come from - they were the best I experienced in NC by far."

It’s an expensive buffet dinner (around $80aud) but the choices were really good, esp the fresh seafood and all the desserts. It’s just not worth it if you don’t eat huge dinners. Order à la carte options instead, but nice to try the buffet just once. Consider BYO noodles and alcohol if you want to save money, buying food and drinks from the restaurant and bar adds up quick. Would have been good to be able to lock/unlock the back beach access door from outside with a key.

"The location is the best. Easy access when arriving at Lac Rose. Most activities are located right in front of the hotel (horse/camel riding, quad rental to ride in the sand dunes, etc). The hotel is literally on the lake, with the terrasse and dining area built over the water."

Some items on the menu tasted like they were not fresh. The AC in the room was a bit underperforming and noisy. The lock on the glass door going to the balcony was broken and could not be locked.

At that price I expected a ceiling fan ,especially with the high humidity, and a hot shower , even under a black solar bag . And a linen change should have happened, after a few hot and humid nights , the sheets become greasy and unpleasant to sleep on .

"This motel was a wonderful surprise! The location is excellent, and the entire place is exceptionally clean. The room design is elegant and tasteful, creating a calm and comfortable atmosphere. Everything felt very well cared for, and the cleanliness really stood out. Highly recommended!"

If I had to mention one small area for improvement, it would be the layout — the bed is a bit close to the entrance door, which made the space feel slightly tight at times.

"Exceptional site and lovely beaches & swimming pools with good restaurants"

The fact that, despite the heat, rooms were not supplied with drinking water & this had to be ordered from room service at $5 a small bottle. We had just arrived from staying at the Hamilton Princess hotel in Bermuda &, as is normal for luxury hotels of this standard, that had no problem in supplying drinking water to guests free of charge.
