"Maison Melrose was a wonderful place to stay. Quite unique as it was built into the rock which kept the downstairs very cool. The bedrooms had aircon which was lovely in the heatwave."

"The kitchen was extremely well equipped - there was nothing we couldn't find! It was also super-handy having parking just outside the house, and we were lucky enough to get superb weather so we could enjoy the beautiful terrace. The beds and bedding were really comfortable and we all slept well here. The house is really charm and the location beautiful. We knew the host was easy to get hold of should we need her, but fortunately we didn't."

"It wasn't a problem for us, but some people might have really disliked the number of insects in the house - there were lots of long-legged flying spider-type things about and loads of ants, including in the downstairs beds, but it's not really surprising given that the house is surrounded by nature and didn't really bother us. We just made sure all food was immediately put in the fridge once finished with. The en-suite bathroom above the double bedroom also doesn't have a door (it's just the whole floor above), meaning that if you get up to go to the bathroom in the night you light up the whole room, and if you don't put the light on you have to climb the creaky, bending steps in the dark - also not a good idea. We were only there 2 nights so we managed OK."

"It was just a nice cosy place to stay for few days, good location, clean and friendly service. Everything what you needed was provided or easy to get too."

"Quirky rental house which is part cave and built into the hillside. Quite an experience and full of character. The home has obviously been refurbished to a high standard with lovely bathrooms (very well-stocked with white fluffy towels. We particularly liked the farmhouse kitchen with a stunning fireplace, large dining table and a sunny conservatory nook at one end. There’s also a laundry room adjacent to the main home. Additionally, there’s a deck area with outside table and chairs for al fresco dining. Property is within 5/10 minutes drive of a couple of decent sized supermarkets and perfect for seeing the delights of the Loire Valley."

"Bedroom three has a steep staircase up to it so as a result we didn’t use it. Most rentals these days have a lockbox which makes a flexible access possible. We definitely recommend that as renters travelling long distances just can’t commit to a time."

"Les chambres sont très belles, la maison et la cuisine sont super équipées, la literie confortable, la terrasse dehors, dont nous n'avons pas pu profiter compte tenu du temps, était bien disposée."

"J'ai trouvé le salon triste, un peu sombre tout comme une grande partie de la cuisine, du fait de l'architecture troglodyte. On aime ou pas cette atmosphère, moi je ne me sentais pas très à l'aide sinon rien à dire quant à la literie, équipement, propreté, accueil etc. Je pense que je suis un peu claustrophobe et cela a joué sur mon ressenti."

"Wunderschönes altes Haus, gut gelegen die Schlösser der Loire zu erkunden, in den Fels geschlagene Küche mit schönem großen Esstisch, Komfortabel ausgestattet mit schöner Sitzgelegenheit vor dem Haus Straße zwischen Haus und Sitzgelegenheit ist eher eine Zufahrt und stört überhaupt nicht."
