"Very cute. There is private parking. Location is great. Host is very helpful. Detailed instructions were given on everything. From how to get there to how to operate devices."

Not necessarily a concern for all and it comes with the territory. If you are tall, you’ll struggle inside. If you have some weight or have mobility issues it will be difficult to get on and off. Shower is outside in the marina facilities. No AC so it might be difficult on very hot weather. We were fine with the fan.

"Our stay on the Yathra Houseboat will always stay in our minds and hearts. This is our second time within 3 years. We had a vacation of our life with all the comfort and pampering by the staff on the boat. The cruise on the river provided rare glimpse of few exotic birds and a large group of monkeys. The narrations by the Manager of the Dedduwa Boat House about those birds were very informative. The Skipper was kind enough to stop along the river bank to watch the birds closely and take photographs. The candle-lit dinner and the night spend on the upper deck was simply magical. The next day my husband even managed catch some fish while cruising. The staff arranged them to be prepared for our lunch and that dish was out of this world. The staff went an extra mile to make us happy. The bedrooms and the facilities on board were above standard. This is the best destination we spend while in Sri Lanka. Keep it up Yathra and we will back again next year."

"Extremely friendly staff! Very nice surroundings, excellent location on the river. Delicious food with enormous portions. Simple, but clean and cozy. Fishing possibility on site."

Bathroom is needing little repair works.

The bed was a bit uncomfortable, too soft for our preference.

"Wunderbare und herzliche Gastgeber. Die Feierabende waren entspannt, ruhig und entschleunigend. Sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was das Herz begehrt."

Nur ein einziger Punkt wäre verbesserungswürdig. Verdunklungsrollos im Bereich der Schlafbereich würden für etwas längere Nächte sorgen :-)

Being a bit inexperienced at staying on boats it took us a while to fine tune the way we used things but hey, life’s a learning experience. Hot water did run out but easily overcome and, with a bit of communication, eventually fixed up. It’s a boat, not a 5 star Hilton; these things happen.
