This is a great place to stay if you like the countryside, peace and quiet, dogs and smiling faces. Totally recommended! P.S.: The lighting in my Bedroom 1 was state-of-the-art."

"It's a beautiful property- the room and facilities were great. The dinner was delicious and extremely generous- Rum and wine included as well. Breakfast had some nice continental options and I especially enjoyed the herb tea. The host was wonderful- I don't speak French but was very easy using google translate. She gave great instructions for arrival. She also looked after me as and made sure I got to the start of my hike safely- she asked another couple to drop me at the trail on their way to Marla after she realised I was going to walk up the windy mountain road! If you are getting a bus there is also a stop right outside- although take care to plan as the buses don't run frequently."

There was enough food for everyone but not much variety for warm dishes, comparing with other guesthouses on the trail. The guesthouse is located off the main trail and the trail is a bit tricky.

"It’s family owned and they were all so lovely and welcoming! Gjirokastër is very “hilly” so the roads were tough but they even offered to drop us off into town/pick us up. Very accommodating to our needs and there when we needed anything. Also, the breakfast was a whole spread with an amazing view of the castle and the mountains; it was so refreshing to eat to such a peaceful view. 10/10."

"This place and it's owner offer truly valuable experience, it is very quiet, clean and comfortable. Very close to the nature, snorkeling beach, horses. Owner is very communicative, helpful, open-minded person. I can highly recommend the breakfast. If you don't like all inclusive monsters and want to place that has 'soul' it is for you. We'd love to get back to this place."

The location is great, right in the middle of Philipsburg and just minutes walk from the beach. You're surrounded by restaurants and shops. Price was excellent."

"My second time staying at the wonderful St. James Guesthouse. Returned back after 3 years, and it was even more wonderful than what I remembered. The owner along with all of the employees are absolutely lovely. You truly feel at home with a lovely family like atmosphere. The rooms are authentic and have exactly what you need. Enjoyed having Netflix on the TV along with Aircondition in the room. Breakfast was delicious with great additional options you pay a cheap price for. Location is the best in Roseau, next to a car rental, walkable distance to everything (Ferry terminal, Markets, Restaurants/bars, Local busses to Portsmouth or Trafalgar). Cannot recommend this place and the employees enough. One of the many gems in Dominica! Thanks to the team once again 🙏"
